Summary

This compelling and deeply personal memoir from WWE superstar Rebecca Quin—a。k。a。 The Man, a。k。a。 Becky Lynch—delves into her earliest wrestling days, her scrappy beginnings, and her meteoric rise to fame。

By age seven, Rebecca Quin, now known in the ring as Becky Lynch, was already defying what the world expected of her。 Raised in Dublin, Ireland in a devoutly Catholic family, Rebecca constantly invented new ways to make her mother worry—roughhousing with the neighborhood kids, hosting secret parties while her parents were away, enrolling in a warehouse wrestling school, nearly breaking her neck and almost kneecapping a WWE star before her own wrestling career even began—and she was always in search of a thrilling escape from the ordinary。

Rebecca’s deep love of wrestling as a child set her on an unlikely path。 With few female wrestlers to look to for guidance, Rebecca pursued a wrestling career hoping to change the culture and move away from the antiquated disrespect so often directed at the elite female athletes that grace the ring。 Even as a teenager, she knew that she would stop at nothing to earn a space among the greatest wrestlers of our time, and to pave a new path for female fighters。

Culled from decades of journal entries, Rebecca’s memoir offers a raw, personal, and honest depiction of the complex woman behind the character Rebecca Quin plays on TV。

reading From a on and off WWE fan and an Irish girl myself, Rebecca Quin knew how to poetically tell her life from a point of view WWE fans have never seen before, detailing her life with her family, struggles in Ireland and trying to find her purpose in life while travelling the world, dealing with relationships and entering the newfound stardom in WWE。I would recommend this book to anyone WWE fan or not, It opens your eyes to how a basic average girl became the biggest name in wrestling histor reading From a on and off WWE fan and an Irish girl myself, Rebecca Quin knew how to poetically tell her life from a point of view WWE fans have never seen before, detailing her life with her family, struggles in Ireland and trying to find her purpose in life while travelling the world, dealing with relationships and entering the newfound stardom in WWE。I would recommend this book to anyone WWE fan or not, It opens your eyes to how a basic average girl became the biggest name in wrestling history paving the way to aspire young girls to believe anything is possible and your dreams are too。 It's a great read and you will find yourself reading for hours (trust me I stayed up til five am reading this) as her writing style is comedically genius。 I will be re-reading and annoting this book and will post a guide。 。。。more

Extremely poignant, witty, charming and heartwarming! Her unique writing style and raw honesty is clearly reflected within this intimate memoir。 As a fan of hers for years, the parts that she had previously shared publicly were enhanced with an intriguing peek behind the curtain, making each page a page-turner! "Becky Lynch: The Man" is an inspiring memoir that takes readers on a journey through the unconventional life of Rebecca Quin。 From her rebellious childhood antics in Dublin to her groundbreaking career in wrestling, Rebecca's story is one of defiance, determination, and empowerment。 Through her candid journal entries, readers gain a deeper understanding of the woman behind the persona, witnessing her struggles and triumphs as she blazes a trail for female athletes in a male-dominated industry。 "Becky Lynch: The Man" is an inspiring memoir that takes readers on a journey through the unconventional life of Rebecca Quin。 From her rebellious childhood antics in Dublin to her groundbreaking career in wrestling, Rebecca's story is one of defiance, determination, and empowerment。 Through her candid journal entries, readers gain a deeper understanding of the woman behind the persona, witnessing her struggles and triumphs as she blazes a trail for female athletes in a male-dominated industry。 Lynch's memoir is a testament to the power of resilience and the importance of staying true to oneself, making it a must-read for anyone seeking motivation to defy expectations and pursue their passions。 。。。more

*Review copy received from NetGalley。*This book starts off lighthearted, making the reader laugh。 Within just a few pages, I knew this book would be amazing。 Becky tells her story in such a way that it feels completely relaxed。 After reading this, I am an even bigger fan of hers and look forward to what she has in store for viewers next。

As someone who has only gotten into wrestling in the last couple years, this memoir not only sealed my love for Becky Lynch but also gave great insight to her journey and career。 I loved the style of writing, it was like sitting down with a friend and her telling you stories。 This may not be for everyone, but it was definitely for me。

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book prior to official release。 I found myself relating strongly to Becky’s character her motives, her self doubt, her intrusive thoughts, her passion。 It’s a testimony to the writing and storytelling that she can be vulnerable to the reader so they can experiences the emotions involved during those difficult years of struggling to find your passion and identity。 I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a Rocky Balboa type of story。 But thi I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book prior to official release。 I found myself relating strongly to Becky’s character her motives, her self doubt, her intrusive thoughts, her passion。 It’s a testimony to the writing and storytelling that she can be vulnerable to the reader so they can experiences the emotions involved during those difficult years of struggling to find your passion and identity。 I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a Rocky Balboa type of story。 But this is even better, Rebecca Quin did this for real。 Becky Lynch story is palpable, endearing and remarkable。 There is no doubt about it。 She is The Man 。。。more

Are you a fan of Becky Lynch? Then, boy, do I NOT have the book for you。 If you've been following Lynch's career then you know about basically everything that she describes in her book。 She does peel back the curtain a bit but not enough to make it a worthwhile read。The book starts with her rebellious youth, then she joins wrestling school and the rest of the book is mostly focussed on her wrestling career (which is, of course, what people want to read about since that's what she's known for)。 Y Are you a fan of Becky Lynch? As a WWE super fan, I am not your average average female。 I attended 6 WWE events in 2023 and 5 events thus far in 2024。 To say I am in awe of The Man would be an understatement。 Running the ropes as the crowd chants her name, Becky commands not only the room but also the ring。 Learning she had written a book, I was elated to read it。 Both thrilled and grateful to Netgalley for the opportunity to review her book, I am happy to report it did not disappoint! Want to start with thanking NetGallery, Gallery Books and Rebecca Quin for the chance to read the ARC copy for my honest review。 I'll start by saying I'm not a WWE fan these days。 I grew up on the WWF of the 90's and 2000's。 These days I watch alittle of AEW but not a huge wrestling fan anymore。 The book is a decent wrestling book (for example , not one of the best by any means but also not the worst。 However Becky Lynch comes across very very whiny in this book。 I mean so whiny that if it was f Want to start with thanking NetGallery, Gallery Books and Rebecca Quin for the chance to read the ARC copy for my honest review。 I'll start by saying I'm not a WWE fan these days。 I grew up on the WWF of the 90's and 2000's。 These days I watch alittle of AEW but not a huge wrestling fan anymore。 The book is a decent wrestling book (for example , not one of the best by any means but also not the worst。 However Becky Lynch comes across very very whiny in this book。 I mean so whiny that if it was fiction the publisher would come back to the author and say "the lead character is unrealistic, tone it down a bit。"。 An example is "I had worked so hard to be the first woman to main event WrestleMania and send the business in a different trajectory," I mean how quickly does she forget that it wasn't just her in the ring。 Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair were also in that main event。 Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of hers and more of just a old school wrestling fan but I like her even less than I did before I read the book。 If you are a fan of hers or modern WWE, I'd recommend the book。 If you are not, I'd probably pass。 。。。more

Fantastic! Admittedly, like the author, I followed wrestling in the late 80's and then left it behind。While she returned in a decade, I did not find myself looking again until Rebecca entered my u iverse via the show "Billions"。She made an impression there that I found myself again watching the pagentry et all from her line of employment。Learning this book was coming out and finging out more about the real person made for the most enjoyable time。I now find myself waiting for the physical copies Fantastic! I received an e-arc of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review。It's been a very long time since I was even a casual wrestling fan, but I picked up this book because I knew Becky Lynch was part of the first wave of WWE women wrestlers who were treated like real athletes and performers and not just sex objects or sidekicks to a man。 Lynch comes across as incredibly likable - honest about her faults, proud of her accomplishments, and always willing to give credit to the people aro I received an e-arc of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review。It's been a very long time since I was even a casual wrestling fan, but I picked up this book because I knew Becky Lynch was part of the first wave of WWE women wrestlers who were treated like real athletes and performers and not just sex objects or sidekicks to a man。 Lynch comes across as incredibly likable - honest about her faults, proud of her accomplishments, and always willing to give credit to the people around her。 Her ability to connect with a crowd is really what sets her apart, and that definitely comes through in writing as well。 She's had incredible success in an unusual field, but a lot of readers will identify with her struggles with things like confidence, body image, and balancing work with relationships and parenthood。 The book left me wanting to look up some of her matches so I'd call that a win。 。。。more

I adore Becky Lynch, so I was stoked to get an advanced copy of this book。 I also have to note that arguably the most iconic moment of her career happened in KC was one I saw live, and not just live, but I was feet from where It occurred。 ANYWAY, this is not about me, but I suppose it also is as this is very much a book for the fans。 This is Becky's story, and certainly there are parts we all know as she's a pro wrestler, but it's also about what has happened behind the scenes。 She writes with h I adore Becky Lynch, so I was stoked to get an advanced copy of this book。 I also have to note that arguably the most iconic moment of her career happened in KC was one I saw live, and not just live, but I was feet from where It occurred。 ANYWAY, this is not about me, but I suppose it also is as this is very much a book for the fans。 This is Becky's story, and certainly there are parts we all know as she's a pro wrestler, but it's also about what has happened behind the scenes。 She writes with honestly and realness and really pulls the curtain back on her road to WWE, as well as what it's been like since she's been in the company, as well as who she is a human。 I knew this was probably going to be my jam, and now I think I'm going to go rewatch all her greatest matches。 Thanks to NetGalley for the look at this March 2024 release! 。。。more

As a lifelong pro wrestling fan, I was really excited to read Rebecca Quin’s autobiography。 Rebecca takes the reader on a journey from her childhood up to the main event spotlight of the WWE。 I enjoyed following her path from a fan, to trainee and rookie wrestler, to one of the top female wrestlers in the industry。 Becky Lynch helped revolutionize women’s wrestling, and it was interesting to get the backstage perspective of her career。 The writing style is very humorous and engaging。 A must read As a lifelong pro wrestling fan, I was really excited to read Rebecca Quin’s autobiography。 Rebecca takes the reader on a journey from her childhood up to the main event spotlight of the WWE。 I enjoyed following her path from a fan, to trainee and rookie wrestler, to one of the top female wrestlers in the industry。 Becky Lynch helped revolutionize women’s wrestling, and it was interesting to get the backstage perspective of her career。 The writing style is very humorous and engaging。 A must read for professional wrestling fans。 Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC。 。。。more

Excellent story of discipline and perseverance。 You don’t need to follow pro wrestling to follow the book, as she does a great job of explaining the intricacies of the sport (although it doesn’t get too involved with that)。 I do think she holds back a bit, however, as to not rock the boat too much with people she still works with。
